The Delacreme Scholars Award

We started Delacreme Scholars in 2018. We realized many students struggle to pay tuition fees and constantly have to scramble to find resources to help pay for school. Typically, by mid-school year, there are very few scholarship opportunities but still a large need for financial assistance. We have watched many people who wanted to continue their education be forced to withdraw from their studies due to a lack of financial stability.

Because of this, we decided to start a scholarship to award Black and Brown students with extra funding during their second half of the school year. The scholarship could be used to help the awardee with academic or living expenses. The applicants have to either be a college student from the Chicagoland area or going to a 2-year or 4 year institution (this includes graduate and post baccalaureate programs) in Chicago and display financial need. As we go into year 5, it’s our hope be to provide relief for students from some of their financial burdens so they can focus on achieving their educational aspirations. We look forward to continuing to offer aid to those in need as we continue to grow.

“Build the Crib” Art Fellowship

We are back with year 3 of our Art Fellowship program! We want to continue with helping develop the blossoming art community here in Chicago along with helping to foster a culture of building artists up. We will be awarding 4 artists this year with the inaugural "Build the crib" fellowship. This could be used to help the awardee with scholastic expenses, living expenses or go towards growing their craft! The applicants have to be a Black or Brown artist of color from the Chicagoland area. Applicants must be between the ages 18-25 and must submit a sample of their work.

Best wishes and good luck!
